Methodology

Our Unique Approach

We have a unique approach to online counselling
that’s more effective than most methods.

Female counsellor in Canada conducting online Counelling

Typically, conventional forms of therapy tend to look at things on more of a surface level and attempt to impose behavioural changes on clients without helping them understand the origins of their afflictions, or how to come to terms with their trauma.

Our dedicated team of counsellors strives to ensure clients can understand their issues on a deeper level, and find effective, long-term strategies to help them overcome whatever it is they’re dealing with.

We offer virtual mental health services that focus on experiential therapy and employ several innovative modalities, such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Trauma Informed Stabilization Treatment, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Existentialism, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, and the Dynamic Maturational Model of Attachment.

This allows you to avoid white-knuckling your way through behavioural changes, and ensure you can mitigate whatever issues you’re facing in a way that feels like second nature.

WHAT WE DO

Our Services

Food & Body Image Issues

In today’s world, more people than ever are dealing with issues related to food and body image.

Whether it’s restricting food consumption, binge eating or compulsive eating, obsessive body-checking, over-exercising, or something else altogether, these issues are becoming increasingly common.

And while we’re not an in-patient treatment facility, no matter what your issue is, we will work with you to discover the underlying needs these behaviours are trying to fulfill, and do whatever we can to help you improve your relationship with food and your body.

Trauma

Regardless of what form of trauma you’ve dealt with, it’s always an overwhelming experience.

And whether it’s emotional, physical, relational, sexual, or something else entirely, trauma tends to inspire extremely destructive behaviour, which can have a decidedly negative effect on your life.

But no matter who you are or what you’ve endured, we can help you understand where your trauma originated, the effect it’s having on your life, and what you can do to move beyond it for good.

Anxiety & Depression

Millions of Canadians suffer from anxiety and depression, but there’s no one-size-fits-all approach for treating these conditions.

If you want to overcome these issues, you’ve got to make peace with what you’ve experienced in your life, dig deep into why you feel the way you do, and find healthy ways of coping.

So, whether you’re suffering from anxiety, depression, or a combination of both, we can help you come up with long-term solutions, so you can deal with this stuff in a way that works for you.

Addictions

No matter who you are, or where you come from, you’re going to experience trauma and tragedy at some point in your life.

But dealing with emotional pain can be incredibly difficult, and when you’re trying to come to terms with this stuff, substance abuse is all too common.

We may not be a rehab facility, but if you find yourself overeating, drinking excessively, or otherwise addicted, we can help you identify the root causes and find better ways to cope.

Relationship Health

Whether it’s greater intimacy, a stronger connection, or renewed love for your partner, chances are, you want more out of your relationship.

But figuring out how to get what you want in a way that’s healthy, and respects the wishes and boundaries of your significant other can be much easier said than done.

We can work with you and your partner to get to the bottom of your issues, figure out how to improve your relationship, and discover how you can harmoniously coexist.

Male Shame & Anger

As a man, it can be tough to know how to express your emotions in a healthy and productive way.

And when you express yourself in a way that’s verbally abusive by name-calling, asserting dominance over others, or otherwise acting from a place of anger, it can cause deep shame and regret.

We can help you learn how to express your emotions in a calm, rational way, without the anger, so you can stop the feelings of guilt and embarrassment before they start.

Our founder

Meet Josipa Katinic

Clinical Counsellor | MA, SEP, EFT, EPC, IEC

I became a clinical counsellor because I love having conversations and building relationships, and it’s always been easy for people to open up to me, so it just seemed natural for me to go down this path.

But once I got into the world of counselling, I realized that conventional forms of therapy tend to make it harder for people to get to the root cause of their problems and make long-lasting, positive changes in their lives. So, I decided to start an online counselling service that would address these issues.

I am so glad that your journey to improved mental health has led you to TalkOnline Counselling, and I am confident that our counsellors can help you to heal, no matter what your afflictions might be.
